CARO stands for Companies (Auditor's Report) Order. The current version is CARO 2020, which replaced CARO 2016. It prescribes additional matters that the auditor must report on in the audit report, beyond what is required under Section 143 of the Companies Act, 2013. CARO is issued by the Central Government in exercise of its powers under Section 143(11).
